ACL Surgical Recovery Metrics
The photo above is from my physio Jian Soares' talk on ACL recovery at Fall Line Fitness. This graph stood out to me for a couple reasons.
1) It's a great visual to give me information about how long it will take my ACL graft to fully recover.
2) The timeline is 12-15 months longer than I thought it would be.
"Back to Sport" check is around 9-12 months but that means early stages of back going back to sport activity, not full performance or force.
Jian mentioned retear is a real risk, especially in the first year, up to the second year. So I have 2 years to go. There was a woman at the talk who was on her fourth ACL surgery- two per leg. That's rough.
I did find an ACL retear risk calculator, but I'm aged out of the calculator. 😦
I'll be asking Jian next week for what he thinks my timeline will be for getting back into the gym (lifting), running, hiking, climbing, and skiing.
