ACL Repair Week 5
This past week, my head really started going down. I was carefully walking down a flat dirt trail. It had rained so the trail was muddy but I was able to maneuver around the puddles and paid care to the undulations in the path. Suddenly, I didn't know where I was. One moment I was walking down the trail, and the next I was facing brush and trees. I looked around and found I had somehow turned 45 degrees and gapped out the transition. I turned back and started walking and the same thing happened. I had to ask for some guidance to get to the end of the trail and to the car. I had experienced nausea and dizzyness earlier in the week so I figured my concussion symptoms were back. However, when I saw my concussion therapist, he said the symptoms were not in line with tbi and suggested it was my nervous system that was unstable and to see my accupucturist and other therapists for my nervous system.
The incident scared me. I had never experienced that kind of gap in vision and propioception before. But it made sense it was my nervous system. I am tired but also in awe how much my nervous system has been wrecked. I'm experiencing symptoms I never had before.
On the other hand, my knee is healing really well. The 5 weeks going on 6 that I have holed up away and just focused on resting and physio has paid off. I also can tell that the prehab has played a huge part in my strength recovery. This knee is recovering way stronger and faster than my other knee, done 8 years ago. This proves that conditioning plays a bigger factor in recovery and resiliency than age. It fortifies that people can get stronger and better despite the belief that people can't change as we get older.
I've incorporated pistol squat practice for my other leg in my physio to strengthen the other leg as well and to also have something to set as a goal. I am determined to recover my body to a state stronger and better than before surgery. Knee and more. The knee will take a full 24 months so 23 more months to go. Whatever may come, I will try my best to get there.
